Rosh HaShanah in the Zebra Room

The Zebra room has been busy exploring apples. We have made homemade applesauce, which the children  loved tasting after we cooked it! We also added apples and honey to our Challah dough. The children enjoyed being included in the process of coring the apples. Each child was able to turn the crank on the corer and spin the apple and watch the skin come off. They were equally excited that we got to feed the scraps that we didn’t  use for our challah and our applesauce to the animals outside.

Along with exploring apples Pertez has also been blowing the Shofar in the hallway, our children have enjoyed this as well. Pertez was kind enough to bring his Shofar into the Zebra room and allowed our children to explore how it felt and how it sounded up close. The children have been creating their own Shofars out of items they have found in the room, they have enjoyed blowing them and hearing the different noises that they can create.

For another large group we decorated some clear contact paper with die cut apples, and Shofars. We talked about the different color apples and about the Shofar and the sounds it makes. You can see our creation on display on our window.

More fun in the Zebra Room

The first month as Zebras has been a blast ( for both children and teachers) we have had some adjusting to do, learning new friends, exploring new toys and exploring the bigger playground. With the weather being so great we have had all kinds of fun outside! We  have played in the water pretty much every day finding new and creative ways to play in the water. The sprinkler is always a hit! Today we had a great time playing in the post rain mud puddles ( OK there might have been a hose involved but it was still GREAT fun). We have also been using the Monkey room a lot to get away from the heat of outside...The children LOVE playing with the balls in there and building bridges with the foam blocks.

We have also been having a great time doing A LOT of sensory/art projects. For the 4th of July we explored with glitter, and chalk to make some pretty firework pictures that are now displayed above the cubbies. The old Bunnies got to explore with shaving cream for the first time since we didn't use it in the Bunny room lets just say they LOVED it!! We went through a whole can with them smearing it everywhere!! We will definitely be doing it again very soon!

Did someone Mud???

Today the Zebra children had a great time being messy! First we explored with  finger paints; we painted the paper ( check it out in the hallway..Its pretty neat Smile ) in addition to the paper we also painted the table, and our bodies…but we had FUN! Instead of cleaning up we went outside and got even more messy playing in MUD!!! We jumped, splashed and even rolled in the mud….Some friends were a little cautious of the mud and preferred the sprinkler instead, regardless we had all kinds of fun today!100_2380100_2377100_2384100_2386100_2389100_2390100_2394100_2397100_2417100_2418100_2404100_2402100_2422
